Green. That’s what I am, that’s what I see when I look around. I don’t think it would feel like home without the trees. It barely feels like home and, it feels like I slipped right into place.
Some things wait, and feel heavy. And other things are becoming so clear.
I cried today when I got to use an all-gender restroom. I did not expect to and I’ve used them before on the west coast without any tears! however, this felt different. Maybe it’s after the park bathroom fiasco. Or maybe it just hit different to not stress so much about it.
I spoke with the kindest person on the bus today. Emme I think she said? But who knows because I often make up names for people by accident. She was a wealth of knowledge and was just waiting to chat. It gave me a lot of insight and energy for my upcoming chapter at evergreen.
While I was bopping around, after I went 45mins the other way on the wrong bus, I made it to Olympia where I spent time walking. Lots of walking. These cities out here have you walk for sure. I’m very glad I trained leading up to me leaving Georgia, at the Blue Car Club pushing baby Arlo.
I went lots of places!
I found an amazing sandwich shop called 5th and 4th sandwiches & more. I’m in. Automatically I’m fully in for a sammy. So! I said “psh, I can walk that.” Yes friend…but should you?? Alas it was about 4 blocks (intersections??) from where I was and uphill (slightly but still!)
And!! Let me tell you if I was not absolutely drooling as I walked closer and smelled it. I had a Turkey bacon sandwich on sourdough. My mouth is literally watering thinking about it! The sourdough was so soft. The turkey was tender and flavorful. And the bacon was crisped and seasoned to perfection. Perfect amount of Mayo. And did I mention the fries?? They snuck up on me! They’re the thick cut steak fries and my god I ate too much! The bag was so big I didn’t even finish them all.
Needless to say, food was excellent 10/10 recommend! (I will be your spokesperson 5th &4th sandwiches, hmu)
Psychic sister was on my list, recommended by my new bestie and landlord Lisa. It was this chill, frozen in time vintage thrift store. And they had so many beautiful pieces. Also a whole section with rocks! And if you know me, you know I love the rocks! The store owner calmly waited while I starred at the stones I’d asked to see and tried to see which felt right. Eventually I picked out a heart shaped labradorite. And I asked the owner to pick one for me if she was comfortable, and she was delighted! She says it’s always a fun game to pick someone’s stone for them! It was a very wholesome experience with such an atmosphere of joy in that place. Loved it!! Will be coming there for my rocks and threads.
And lastly, I went to Browsers Books, they were very nice there and had lots of interesting books! I found one very quickly actually, several! But I must limit myself to things I can’t get from the library. I chose to bring home “Murdle: Volume 1.” It’s a book full of 100 mysteries you solve – clue style – by reading the case and checking off logic puzzles. I’m so excited!! It sparked a lot of joy in me! I’m doing everything I can to fan it into more.

OH! I also got lost like 4 times and walked. So. Far. Because I got myself so far away from a bus stop on evergreen campus. Wild times. My phone also died during this adventure! I retraced my steps to the transit center and boarded to campus to borrow electricity for my phone. And then back to Lacey via Olympia.
